Las Vegas, NV (April 16, 2007) – JVC Professional
Products Company and Grass Valley, a business within Thomson
(Euronext Paris: 18453; NYSE: TMS), announces the technology preview
of the new Grass Valley™ EDIUS 4.5 nonlinear editing software. EDIUS
4.5 will enable real-time, native 60p and 50p MPEG-2 transport
stream editing for material produced with JVC's GY-HD250U and
GY-HD200U ProHD camcorders.
"Enabling native 720 60p and 50p MPEG-2 file editing, the Grass
Valley EDIUS 4.5 brings the JVC ProHD platform full circle," states
Craig Yanagi, National Marketing Manager, Creation Products, JVC
Professional Products. "By supporting all of JVC's 720p platform
frame rates, EDIUS 4.5 maximizes the potential of the native full
raster 1280 x 720 progressive resolution generated by our entire
ProHD camcorder line. In addition, EDIUS 4.5 becomes the gateway to
the wide breadth of robust server and distribution offerings from
Grass Valley."
Additionally, by using the ProHD DR-HD100 HD hard drive recorders
with JVC's 200 series camcorders, true tapeless native file editing
of 1280 x 720 60p and 50p footage from the ProHD camcorders can be
accomplished on EDIUS 4.5, providing seamless direct file access HD
editing and eliminating the need to ingest the video content or to
convert the file to conform to the NLE system.
"We're excited to provide editing technology that supports JVC's
ProHD platform," said Jeff Rosica, Senior Vice President of
Marketing & Technology for the Grass Valley business within Thomson.
"EDIUS 4.5 offers an affordable and efficient way for
cinematographers, broadcasters and production professionals to edit
and distribute native progressive 60p and 50p material in high
definition."
EDIUS 4.5 will be available later this summer. The suggested list
price starts at $699 and is a free upgrade to existing version 4
users. For more information about the Grass Valley EDIUS 4.5 support
