ATI has announced a follow-up to its high-end Radeon 9800 Pro graphics card. Dubbed the Radeon 9800 XT, the new card offers faster engine and memory speeds but no notable new technology.

This card is faster than the ATI 9800 256MB Special Edition, and much quieter because of the oversized fan. Two video ports for dual monitors together! One is DVI and the other ADC (carries USB, video and power signals together).

If you have an ATI 9600 or nVidia FX5200 card in your G5, this card is a giant step up in 2D and 3D performance. Mac OS X (unlike Windows!) uses the video card for all kinds of tasks besides 3D games.
